ⓘ Perrache (quarter)

ⓘ Perrache (quarter)

Perrache is located to the south of Ainay, upstream of confluence between the Rhone and the Saone. It is named after Antoine-Michel Perrache, who began to develop the confluence and to expand it to the south. The filling and remediation works of the formerly marshy lands were made after a decision by Pierre-Marie Taillepied de Bondy, prefect of the Rhone from 1809 to 1814.

Multimodal Perrache train station divides the quarter into two parts, which include the train station, tram and metro.

The historical isolation of the southern part of the tracks illustrate the word "Popa hotel Les voûtes" "under the arches" is often used to refer to this quarter. Neglected for a long time, the quarter is currently the subject of a major planning operation, as what happened at "Stade de Gerland" on the left Bank of the Rhone river. Reassessment of the quarter are mainly concentrated around the project Museo de Confluence Koop of Himmelblau. In Lyon, this district is famous for its large number of prostitutes. There is also the headquarters of the National front, political refugees and the homeless.
