Harste is a village to the northwest of Gottingen, Lower Saxony, Germany, belonging to the Gemeinde Bovenden.

While the date of its Foundation is unknown, archaeological studies conducted in the 1980-ies showed Grubenhaueser from the 7th century and continued occupation ever since, at least until the end of the 15th century. The first archival records of the community-from 952. The existing houses date back more than a century.

In 953 Otto I, Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire gave to the community, which he received from count Billung, to the Moritz monastery in Magdeburg. In 1294, the year is the first year in which there is a link to the castle Harste. Within one generation, it burned down and was rebuilt. However, it gradually came to repaired within the next two and a half centuries until it was re-built in 1770. 29 Aug 1727, the castle was burned and the castle and lands was re-built in the following year, the castle Domaeneappearing for the first time in pretty much as it looks now.
