ⓘ Escuminac, Quebec

Escuminac is a municipality in Quebec, Canada, on the north shore of the Restigouche River.

In addition to Escuminac itself, the municipality also includes the communities of Escuminac flats, Gillam, and Pointe-à-La-garde.

According to the missionary Joseph-étienne Guinard, Escuminac tribe is the mikmaq word meaning "small fruits", originally identifying a point of Land jutting out into the river comfortable. But this translation is disputed how bizarre. It was spelled out in a variety of ways, including Semenac, Scamanac, Scaumenac, Escouminac, Scoumenac, and Scouminac.
