ⓘ Corps Support Group

A Corps Support Group, or CSG, was a brigade-sized unit in the United States Army. A CSG differs from a DISCOM in that it is a corps, not a divisional, asset. Doctrinally, a CSG serves corps units, not division units, but in practice CSGs typically have a close working relationship with a particular division especially in garrison. A CSGs subordinate units also may be parceled out to different commands in theater, thus their wartime organization will normally significantly differ from their garrison organization.

As a rule, the CSG and its subordinate units will be deployed only as far ahead as in the field support Department. A typical CSG is organized into a headquarters company and a different amount of support for the infantry battalions of the BMC, which may or may not be from the same Fort as headquarters. The CSG typically is responsible for strengthening the logistics division, and in the first place to serve non-divisional units such as artillery corps of military police, and other units of higher echelons.

The US army has to change Aug in crews life-support, with the support of infantry battalions to become combat support, logistics support battalion CSSBs. Three of the groups support of infantry, stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina in the framework of the XVIII airborne corps.
