The Club is situated on 158 acres with 125 acres devoted to the golf course. The plans for Quail Creek Golf & Country Club began in 1960 and the golf course and clubhouse design and construction followed in 1961–62.

Johnston provided the conversion of grassland to residential area and Golf and country club. Quail Creek was realized when the steering Committee of businessmen headed by the President-elect, Boston Smith, was found on may 6, 1960. After much research, the Committee highlighted section 158 acres of land, which was a familiar landmark for residents of the city of Oklahoma city, having been in a country house Virgil brown, a well-known public figure. The Committee agreed that the 400 members had to be signed in order to assure that the club can be built and began to unfold a plan.
